Job Description
Summary: Tokio Marine America has been a leading provider of Commercial Property and Casualty Insurance in the U.S. for over a century. The Assistant Product Underwriting Specialist will support the Corporate Underwriting team by assisting with product development, underwriting guidelines, and portfolio performance analysis to promote profitable growth.
Responsibilities:
- Works with Product Specialists to maintain and continually improve a specific insurance product line including the assessment of the portfolio to ensure profitability
- Research forms, rates and rules to assist field underwriting and the company overall on rate, rule and form issues
- Supports product development including associated pricing and underwriting tools, rate, rule and form filings coordinated with actuaries; manage current filings; and, review rate, rule, form changes to make basic new filings as assigned
- Contributes to the development of Underwriting guidelines and rules for execution by Field Underwriting
- Participates in underwriting reviews of business segments and supports internal audits and Market Conduct exams
- Collaborates and maintains strong relationships with all internal departments
- Assists with the execution of compliance specifications, including the creation of tools and resources essential for sustaining compliance requirements
- Through research and reporting assists the CUW and TMA Executive leadership in initiatives, projects and general areas for assigned lines
- Supports training as needed
- Assist in systems implementation for corporate underwriting matters
- Collaborates, designs, reviews and/or recommends policies, procedures and technology to improve operational efficiency, underwriting profitability and regulatory compliance
- Responsible for complying with proper internal controls as necessary to conduct job functions and/or carry out responsibilities and/or administrative activities at Company
Required Qualifications:
- College Degree or equivalent experience preferably in finance, insurance or a related field
- Extensive Personal Computer skills such as excel and document management
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- 1-3 years insurance experience preferred
- Positive team participation and attributes preferred
