Software Engineer Intern (TikTok-Open Platform) - 2026 Summer(BS/MS)

Summary: TikTok is the leading destination for short-form mobile video, and they are seeking a Software Engineer Intern for their Open Platform team. The intern will collaborate with the front-end team to build reusable UI components and support TikTok's ecosystem while gaining hands-on experience in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities: - Collaborate with the front-end team to build reusable UI components, internal tools, and features that support TikTok Open Platform - Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code with attention to scalability and performance - Participate in daily standups, code reviews, and technical discussions to understand how platform-level products are built and maintained - Debug and optimize frontend code with a solid grasp of browser behavior, HTTP request/response patterns, and modern development tools - Contribute to real product development efforts under the guidance of experienced engineers Required Qualifications: - Currently pursuing an Undergraduate/Graduate in Software Development, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline - Able to commit to working for 12 weeks during the Summer of 2026 - Basic understanding of web development fundamentals (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) - Willingness to learn modern frontend frameworks (e.g., React or Vue) - Curiosity about how things work — for example, understanding how an HTTP request is structured and how to debug it - Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail - Able to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment Preferred Qualifications: - Demonstrated passion through side projects, personal websites, or contributions to open source - Familiarity with browser debugging tools and network analysis - Passion about techniques and solving challenging problems - Graduating December 2026 onwards with the intent to return to degree program after the completion of the internship Required Skills: Web Development, JavaScript, Frontend Frameworks Important Skills: HTML, CSS, Browser Debugging Nice-to-Have Skills: Curiosity, Problem-Solving, Attention to Detail, Teamwork Internship Start Date: Start in 2026 Summer Benefits: Interns have day one access to health insurance, Life insurance, Wellbeing benefits and more, Interns also receive 10 paid holidays per year, Paid sick time (56 hours if hired in first half of year, 40 if hired in second half of year), Interns who are not working 100% remote may also be eligible for housing allowance.
