Job Description
JOB SUMMARY:
The Assistant Director of Professional Doctoral Studies coordinates the administrative needs of all professional doctoral students under the oversight of the Director of Professional Doctoral Studies.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
The employee in this position will have the following essential job functions:
- Oversee the D.Min./D.Ed.Min. admissions process in coordination with the Admissions and PDS Offices including field essay review and decision communication
- Communicate with students to answer questions and ensure they have access to the resources needed for academic success
- Facilitate matriculation process for incoming D.Min./D.Ed.Min. students
- Communicate with students to answer questions and offer academic advising
- Keep regular office hours up to 40 hours per week
- Assist in recruiting prospective D.Min/D.Ed.Min students through effective communication
- Perform regular program progress audits for D.Min./D.Ed.Min. students
- Carry out special projects or perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Professional Doctoral Studies or the Vice President for Doctoral Studies
- Assist the Director of PDS in teaching/grading writing seminars for PDS students
- Aid the Director of PDS with new program development (i.e., D.Ed.Min. in Professional Leadership)
- Oversee files and records for the Hispanic D.Min./D.Ed.Min. program
- Prepare reports as needed for full faculty meetings in coordination with the PDS Administrative Assistant
- Oversee payments for faculty supervisors in the Hispanic D.Min./D.Ed.Min. program
- Work with Academic Records and Accounting offices for D.Min./D.Ed.Min. registration, payment schedules, etc.
- Responsible for the general oversight of the Hispanic D.Min./D.Ed.Min. program under the leadership of the Director of Professional Doctoral Studies
Perform other duties as may be assigned by supervisor.
EDUCATION:
The person in this position needs to have a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree. It is preferred that this person has a Master of Divinity and is currently enrolled in or is a graduate of the Ph.D. program at Southern Seminary.
LANGUAGE:
Capacity to write and speak in Spanish is desirable, but not required.
EXPERIENCE:
The person in this position should have prior customer service-related experience.
SUPERVISION:
The person in this position will supervise no one. The person in this position will report to the Director of Professional Doctoral Studies and the Vice President for Doctoral Studies.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The person in this position will work in a typical office environment.

The person in this position will use the following equipment: computer, Microsoft Office.
