Internal Audit Unit Intern - UNPAID

Summary: The Massachusetts Executive Office of Labor and Workforce Development (EOLWD) is seeking an Internal Audit Unit Intern to support the Department of Environmental Protection. This internship offers hands-on experience in auditing and compliance, including the development of audit documentation and reviewing procedures for adherence to regulations. Responsibilities: - Create and/or update audit documentation to assist in improving consistency and efficiency of the Audit Unit - Review existing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for compliance with State/Federal procurement policies and regulations - Identify gaps in current procedural manuals - Create/update standard operating procedures guidance documents - Create standardized audit templates - Document audit methodology - Build onboarding guide for future interns Preferred Qualifications: - Be studying accounting, finance, or public administration - Show curiosity about how State organizations work - Be comfortable working with data - Reliable and detail oriented - Basic accounting & business concepts - Basic knowledge of internal auditing & controls - Data and Excel skills - Analytical thinking - Strong communication skills - Basic professional and Technical skills Required Skills: Accounting, Finance, Public Administration, Internal Auditing, Internal Controls, Data Analysis, Microsoft Excel Benefits: Interns may be eligible to earn academic credit through their college or university., When you embark on a career with the Commonwealth, you are offered an outstanding suite of employee benefits that add to the overall value of your compensation package.
