Job Description
Summary: The Baltimore Sun is seeking a Graphic Design Intern to join their team this summer. This part-time role offers students hands-on experience in creating visual content for digital and print platforms while collaborating with various teams to support storytelling and marketing initiatives.
Responsibilities:
- Design and produce creative assets for marketing campaigns, including email, social media, landing pages, and digital display ads
- Support the creation of print materials, including flyers, promotional pieces, and sales collateral
- Develop graphics for social media, print publications, website content, and podcasts
- Assist with advertising client creative and branded content projects
- Collaborate with marketing, newsroom, and advertising teams to bring ideas to life
- Participate in team meetings and contribute creative concepts and feedback
- Ensure all creative aligns with brand guidelines and campaign objectives
- Manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Required Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in a college or university program, preferably in Graphic Design, Visual Communications, Marketing, or a related field
- Strong design skills with a portfolio showcasing digital and/or print work
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign required; After Effects or Premiere is a plus)
- Basic understanding of layout, typography, color, and branding principles
- Ability to take direction and incorporate feedback
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Comfortable working both independently and collaboratively
- This is a part-time internship (20–30 hours per week)
- Applicants must submit a digital portfolio of relevant design work as part of their application
Preferred Qualifications:
- Interest in media, journalism, communications or marketing is a plus but not required
