Job Description
Summary: The Ryder Hotel is a historic establishment known for its blend of tradition and modern comfort. The Purchasing & Receiving Agent is responsible for managing the procurement and receipt of goods, ensuring compliance with company policies, and maintaining strong supplier relationships while supporting overall supply chain operations.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and execute purchasing activities by sourcing suppliers, obtaining quotes, and placing orders in accordance with company policies
- Receive, inspect, and verify incoming shipments for accuracy, quality, and compliance with purchase orders
- Maintain accurate records of purchases, deliveries, and inventory adjustments using procurement and inventory management systems
- Communicate effectively with vendors and internal departments to resolve order discrepancies, delays, or quality issues
- Assist in inventory control by monitoring stock levels and collaborating with warehouse and production teams to ensure timely replenishment
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree or higher in business, supply chain management, or related field preferred
- Proven experience in purchasing, receiving, or inventory management within a manufacturing, retail, or distribution environment
- Basic proficiency with procurement software and Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills to manage multiple orders and shipments simultaneously
- Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with vendors and internal stakeholders
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems such as SAP, Oracle, or similar platforms
- Knowledge of supply chain best practices and inventory control methodologies
- Certification in purchasing or supply chain management (e.g., CPP, CPSM) is a plus
- Familiarity with compliance standards and regulatory requirements related to procurement
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills and ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
