BASIC JOB SUMMARY:
The overall purpose of the Warehouse Attendant/Purchaser is to maintain and monitor inventory of incoming and outgoing materials for services rendered. The person in this position performs a variety of tasks and relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job.
The Warehouse Attendant/Purchases is expected to adhere to regulations, Company policies and values, and to represent themselves and the Company in a positive and productive manner. This position requires the ability to interact and communicate in a professional, effective manner, both in writing and verbally, with customers, co-workers, and supervisors and/or managers.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
The essential job functions and duties described below may not be the only requirements of the position. It may be necessary to follow other instructions or perform other related duties as required by the company.
- Travel for Company related business using a personal vehicle or a company vehicle, therefore, a valid personal driver’s license and adequate insurance coverage on the personal vehicle is required at all times. When applicable, a valid commercial driver’s license may be required, as well
- Basic computer skills are required to operate various software systems used in managing inventory, creating purchase orders, and interfacing with vendors via web tools and email
- Maintain records of incoming and outgoing aerial/buried cable for TEC company records. Must utilize computers and software systems to track orders and inventory, and to issue inventory to contractors
- Prepares material requisition forms and purchase orders materials for submission to the authorized TEC manager for approval. May include working with vendors to secure quotes for materials
- Responsible for keeping inventory in an orderly and secure fashion where items can be easily found when needs. Shelves are to be properly labeled and items accessible
- Monitor inventory levels, flag items in need of restocking, restock and keep inventory at the necessary level needed for the day-to-day operation of TEC Copper and Fiber plant
- Operate a forklift, skid steer, and other equipment to unload and load trucks and trailers, in a safe and efficient manner
- Responsible for safe handling, stacking, and storing of inventory items including but not limited to cable reels, hand holes, pallets of material, and boxes
- Responsible for routine maintenance and upkeep of the following: Landscape, lawn, shrubbery, and plant materials using a variety of hand tools and power tools around warehouse
OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:
- May be responsible for the opening and closing of the Service Center doors and gates each morning and afternoon following established guidelines for safety and security
- May be responsible for changing the air filters at the Service Center and the Commercial Office, as needed, or on a monthly basis
- May be responsible for delivery of inner office supplies, mail, and equipment from the Service Center to the Commercial Office, as needed
- May be responsible for delivery of deposits from TEC authorized personnel to the bank, as needed
- May be responsible for shipment of parcels via UPS or FedEx, as needed, and keeping records of the shipments
- May be responsible for returning of merchandise to be repaired or returned for credit to vendors or suppliers, and for maintaining records for each
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
Job Qualifications:
Education/Experience - High school diploma or GED required
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities - This position requires basic computer skills, including intermediate typing skills as well as mathematical, organizational, and clerical skills. Approximately one (1) year of experience in a similar position is preferred.
