Job Description
Summary: TE Connectivity is a global industrial technology leader creating a safer, sustainable, productive, and connected future. The Assembly Operator III will be responsible for optical connector assembly, termination of fiber optic cable assemblies, and testing, while also assisting in process development and problem resolution.
Responsibilities:
- Polish and test fiber optic cables
- Assemble and package fiber optic connector components (as needed)
- Terminate single and multi-fiber cables
- Operate fiber router & complete over-molding process (as needed)
- Support prototype product builds, test product builds, pre-release NPI builds (as needed)
- Measure components using calipers, gages, or other measuring devices
- Complete necessary operational paperwork required to maintain the traceability of product
- Troubleshoot and perform minor repairs to equipment
- Understand cleaning methods and contamination assessment for optical assembly
- Mechanical Aptitude to safely & efficiently operate equipment (E-Stop/Soft Stop) and identify issues
- Suggest process improvements to improve overall manufacturing efficiencies
- Communicate within a team atmosphere to ensure clarity of purpose & Customer satisfaction
- After training period of 30 days, works with limited supervision to provide timely and quality products
- Inspect own work and products using quality standards, work instructions and prints
- Accountability - takes responsibility for his/her own work
- Respects confidential information and concerns shared by others
- Available to work overtime to support production goals as needed
- Ability to work in a clean room environment wearing all required clean room gowning garments and PPE (gowns, shoe booties, hair nets, nitrile gloves, safety glasses, safety shoes)
Required Qualifications:
- High School diploma or GED preferred
- Minimum 1 year manufacturing experience required with knowledge and understanding of manufacturing principles such as Safety, Quality, Delivery, Inventory, and Productivity
- Proficient Hand-Eye Dexterity & Motor Skills for intricate/delicate work
- Must be able to work with small parts in a clean room environment, using a microscope
- Available to work overtime to support production goals as needed
- Must have good time management skills to work on numerous projects (sometimes simultaneously)
- Attention to Detail (following bill of material, job routers, and understanding drawings/prints)
- Team Oriented - will work effectively and cohesively with other employees to achieve required objectives and goals
- Credibility - takes responsibility for his/her own work. Respects confidential information and concerns shared by others
- A safe and quality conscious attitude and follow safety and quality requirements
- Must be able to move materials weighing up to 50 pounds
- Must be able to remain in stationary position 75% of the time
- Must be able to operate machinery
- Must be able to move between work zones
- Must be proficient and able to understand written instructions in English language
Preferred Qualifications:
- Minimum 1 year experience in a fiber optic manufacturing environment preferred
- SAP Manufacturing & ISO 9001 experience is preferred
- Working knowledge of hand tools and blueprint reading preferred
