Job Description
Summary: TAMCO Group is a USA-based manufacturer of electrical and lighting products, and they are seeking a Category Specialist to drive growth and profitability within assigned product categories. The role involves managing product assortment, pricing, promotions, supplier relationships, and ensuring a positive customer experience while staying updated on market trends.
Responsibilities:
- Expert in product knowledge of assigned categories to assist in technical support calls and emails for customers/internal departments
- Holds both industry and compliance knowledge of category (QC, UL, NEC, DLC, etc.)
- Serves as an Information pipeline for promotions, new product launches, etc
- Maintains master crossover sheet(s) and vendor relationships for set categories
- Oversees inventory forecasting, maintaining set KPIs, and managing new-product KPIs
- Responsible for pricing & costs, margin analysis, and industry/market research
- Develop product training on categories for the sales team and other internal departments
- Manages and monitors market share/comp analysis measuring the success of assigned categories
- Studies potential FIFO/Product Life cycle to develop promotions/ flash sales
- Manages SDR/ buy-back tracking if applicable
- Develops & promotes USP's (Unique selling points) of assigned product categories
- Develop yearly SWOT (S•trengths, W eaknesses, O pportunities, and T•hreats) Analysis on assigned categories
- Approval and denial of debits for assigned product lines
Required Qualifications:
- Previous experience in the lighting/electrical industry is a plus. Note: Candidates with electrical/lighting experience (industry knowledge or product knowledge) will be strongly considered
- Strong knowledge of category management, marketing, and sales principles
- Ability to analyze and develop accurate conclusions to support category decisions based on key data
- An understanding of the market and consumer insights and trends
- Strong people management and persuasion skills to manage and influence at all levels of the company
- Ability to analyze and strategize
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficient in MS Office
- Category management: 1 year (Required)
