Senior Staff iOS Mobile Developer
Location: Chicago, Illinois
Work Flexibility: Remote
As a member of Stryker’s AI Innovation Unit, you’ll collaborate with industry leaders and innovators to bring computer vision, AI/ML, and digital technologies into the operating room and other healthcare settings. You’ll help develop core technologies that power solutions across surgical robotics, image-guided surgery, clinical decision support, and more—deploying your work across mobile apps, cloud services, embedded systems, edge devices, and mixed reality (XR) platforms.
The Senior Staff Software Engineer, iOS/VisionOS (Mixed Reality) will design and develop advanced features for iOS and VisionOS applications, optimize existing functionality, and lead the overall software architecture. You’ll work closely with designers and backend engineers to ensure applications meet the highest standards of quality, performance, and innovation across multiple therapeutic areas.

What You Will Do:
Design, develop, and test advanced hardware and software prototypes, including AR/xR experiences and iOS applications, ensuring functionality, performance, and user experience.
Translate user needs into design specifications, making independent decisions to balance trade-offs and meet component and system requirements.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams—including R&D, Quality, Manufacturing, Regulatory, and Clinical—to drive complex product development initiatives.
Deploy and integrate AI/ML models and assets into medical and head-mounted devices, optimizing for real-time performance and seamless operation.
Lead software architecture, enforce coding standards, conduct code reviews, and develop maintainable, testable, and high-quality software solutions.
Conduct research, studies, and problem-solving to identify solutions, analyze feasibility, and resolve complex design issues across components and sub-systems.
Mentor, develop, and influence technical talent, fostering collaboration, knowledge sharing, and skill growth across the team and organization.
Identify and implement process and design improvements, ensuring sustainable solutions that enhance product development and performance.
What You Will Need:
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Software engineering, Computer Science, or related discipline
6+ years of related experience
4+ years of experience in iOS development
Experience in Swift/Objective -C
Preferred Qualifications:
C++ or other object-oriented programming languages
Experience with iOS frameworks such as Core Data, CoreBluetooth, and/or UIKit
Experience with Camera API such as AVFoundation
Advanced iOS development and architecture experience
Familiarity with RESTful APIs to connect iOS applications to back-end services
