Hydrgeology Intern - Energy & Resources (Summer 2026)

Summary: Stantec is a company focused on solving complex challenges in the engineering and design fields, and they are seeking a Hydrogeology Intern to join their Global Mining team. The intern will work on hydrogeology projects related to mining operations, groundwater modeling, and field studies, gaining hands-on experience alongside experienced practitioners. Responsibilities: - Work with a multi-discipline hydrogeology, hydrology, and engineering team on a day-to-day basis - Participate in team meetings and project meetings - Actively engage with project team members such as project managers and project technical leads to complete tasks - Contribute to development of hydrogeologic conceptual and numerical groundwater models with required supervision commensurate with your level of experience. Specific tasks may include: - Pre- and post- processing of model inputs and results - Evaluating model calibration performance and sensitivity - Collect and/or analyze field data including: - Well installation and drilling data - Pumping test analysis - Well sampling - Contribute to the preparation of quality technical documents and/or drawings - Produce technical report or presentation to project team on a specific project which you’ll be assigned Required Qualifications: - Pursuing a Bachelor's Degree or secondary degree in Hydrogeology, Geology, or related scientific or engineering discipline - An interest in acquiring mining specific experience in quantitative and qualitative hydrogeology - Technical and scientific reporting, presentation, and review capability - You must be a self-starter and be able to work in a team setting - Proficiency with software relevant to the professional discipline of this internship such as MODFLOW, ArcGIS, Aqtesolv, or Aquifer Test Pro desired but not necessary Required Skills: Hydrogeology, Groundwater modeling Important Skills: MODFLOW, ArcGIS Nice-to-Have Skills: Technical reporting, Teamwork, Self-starter Internship Start Date: Start in 2026 Summer Benefits: Medical, dental, and vision plans, Wellness program, Health saving accounts, Flexible spending accounts, 401(k) plan, Employee stock purchase program, Life and accidental death & dismemberment (AD&D) insurance, Short-term/long-term disability plans, Emergency travel benefits, Tuition reimbursement, Professional membership fee coverage, Paid family leave, Ten paid holidays in each calendar year, Accrue vacation between 10 and 20 days per year, Eligible for paid sick leave
