Job Description
Summary: Sofar Sounds is a global community that connects artists and audiences through unique and intimate experiences. As a Freelance Food Experiences Producer, you'll curate, produce, and promote culinary-driven experiences that spotlight your city’s vibrant food culture while collaborating with other Producers and the Global Communities team to deliver exceptional events.
Responsibilities:
- Launch and grow Sofar’s pop culture programming in your city: producing, promoting, and selling tickets using creative, self-directed local marketing tactics
- Curate food-led experiences – from tastings and pop-ups to chef collaborations, food & music pairings, and immersive dining concepts – that resonate with your city’s culture and audience
- Use your deep understanding of local food scenes, restaurant communities, and dining trends to select chefs, venues, and concepts that feel distinctive, welcoming, and city-defining
- Identify and reach key audience segments to ensure events attract an engaged, diverse community of food enthusiasts
- Build and maintain relationships with chefs, restaurants, food collectives, and hospitality groups to support programming, partnerships, and sponsorships
- Spot opportunities with new restaurant openings, chef debuts, and culinary pop-ups, collaborating in ways that drive mutual promotion, content, and audience growth
- Collaborate with other Sofar Producers in your city to align on event cadence, neighborhoods, cross-promotions, and shared community-building efforts
- Work closely with the Global Communities team to uphold Sofar’s standards, share learnings, and help shape culinary initiatives more broadly
- Own the quality and guest experience of each event, ensuring everything feels intentional, elevated, and rooted in hospitality
- Support financial performance by tracking profitability and helping ensure healthy growth of your city’s culinary programming
- Identify and cultivate partnerships with local organizations, food media, and community groups with aligned audiences to broaden reach and co-promote events
- Contribute to a diverse ecosystem of Sofar experiences through cross-disciplinary ideas, including but not limited to food + music crossovers, chef spotlights, and neighborhood-themed concepts
Required Qualifications:
- 1-3 years of experience in events, hospitality, restaurant operations, catering, experiential marketing, live event production, partnerships, and/or related fields
- Deeply connected to your city's food and cultural scene: its chefs, restaurants, cuisines, neighborhoods, and the places people actually gather to eat and explore
- Attended, organized, or worked on culinary experiences (dinners, tastings, pop-ups, chef collabs, food markets, etc.) and understand what makes them feel special and authentic
- Maintain a growing network of chefs, restaurateurs, culinary creatives, and hospitality partners you can tap for events, collaborations, and unique experiences
- Commercially minded and understand how thoughtful programming, strong partnerships, and smart promotion drive ticket sales, brand visibility, and audience growth
- Adaptable, reflective, and feedback-driven, continually interrogating what works, what doesn't, and why
- Excel at building relationships with restaurants, local businesses, food media, community organizations, and culturally relevant partners who add strategic value to culinary programming
- Confident pitching event concepts and partnership opportunities, and ideally have experience securing sponsorships, F&B partnerships, or hospitality collaborations
- Take pride in delivering polished, welcoming experiences and bring ownership, professionalism, and hospitality to every touchpoint with chefs, venues, partners, and guests
- Highly organized, an excellent communicator (written and verbal), and skilled at managing multiple moving parts
- Thrive in flexible, self-directed environments while staying connected and collaborative with fellow Producers and the Sofar team
