Role Summary
The Data Stewardship & Metadata Specialist is responsible for making data governance operational by defining business data concepts, managing metadata, and coordinating with data owners and stewards across the bank. This role ensures data is well-defined, understood, and consistently used.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and maintain the enterprise business glossary and data definitions
Identify and document Critical Data Elements (CDEs)
Coordinate data stewardship activities across lines of business
Facilitate working sessions to resolve data definition and usage conflicts
Maintain data lineage and metadata in the data catalog
Partner with Technology teams to ensure metadata accuracy
Support impact analysis for regulatory and business changes
Promote adoption of governance artifacts through training and communication
Required Qualifications
4+ years experience as a business analyst, data analyst, or reporting lead
Strong understanding of how data is created, transformed, and consumed
Experience working with metadata or data catalog tools
Strong facilitation and stakeholder management skills
Ability to translate between business and technical audiences
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in financial services or another regulated industry
Familiarity with data governance or data management practices
Exposure to regulatory reporting or risk data
