Job Description
Summary: St. Olaf College is dedicated to promoting wellness among its students, and they are seeking a Wellness Center Assistant Team Lead Peer Educator to lead a team in educating students about balanced lifestyle choices. The role involves organizing educational programs, providing peer support, and fostering team bonding within the Wellness Center.
Responsibilities:
- Create and present one to two 1-hour educational programs every month related to their wellness team
- Aid in developing professional development opportunities for PEs, attend training opportunities provided by the Associate Director for Wellness & Health Promotions, and encourage peers to actively participate in professional development
- Peer Educators provide one-on-one support to help students who have questions or need guidance while at St. Olaf, typically during office hours
- Peer Educators serve as mentors and teachers in the community
- Peer Educators submit weekly reports, monthly session reports, and peer support reports as part of their role
- Peer Educators assist the Wellness Center with any duties or tasks related to effective office management such as distributing toilet talks, hanging posters, etc
- Throughout the year, other projects or duties for the Wellness Center may be assigned
Required Qualifications:
- At least one semester of experience as a Wellness Center Peer Educator or equivalent experience is required
- Willingness to continually develop knowledge related to all areas of wellness
- Desire to work on a team and independently at times
- Present with genuine sensitivity and concern for others as individuals, as well as a personal and professional commitment that goes beyond outlined responsibilities
- Strong communication skills
- Good academic and disciplinary standing with the college
Preferred Qualifications:
- Preference will be given to applicants who will be on campus for both the fall and spring semesters (this does not include Interim)
