Job Description
Summary: Rackspace Technology is focused on building and improving security operations through AI and automation. The Cyber + AI Intern will work on automating security tasks, prototyping AI-driven use cases, and supporting security event analysis.
Responsibilities:
- Build tools and scripts to automate security tasks across engineering and SOC workflows
- Prototype AI-driven use cases (alert triage, enrichment, investigation support, automation)
- Support security event analysis, including triaging alerts and investigating patterns
- Identify opportunities to reduce noise, improve detection quality, and streamline operations
- Work with engineers to integrate AI into existing security systems and processes
- Contribute to improving SOC playbooks, workflows, and standard operating procedures
- Assist with designing scalable, AI-enabled security solutions across the environment
Required Qualifications:
- A Senior or Grad Student pursuing a bachelors or masters degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, AI/ML, or similar
- Comfortable writing code (Python preferred)
- Basic understanding of security fundamentals (networking, endpoints, identity)
- Familiarity with logs, alerts, or monitoring concepts
- Interest in applying AI to real-world problems, not just theory
- Strong problem-solving mindset and ability to turn ideas into working solutions
- Availability to work Monday through Friday between the hours of 8am and 5pm CDT
- Hybrid schedule, 2 days a week in office at our Global HQ at 281 N/Redland Road
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with APIs, scripting, or automation (Python, PowerShell, etc.)
- Exposure to LLMs, agents, or AI tooling (OpenAI, Anthropic, etc.)
- Familiarity with SIEM or security tools (Splunk, Sentinel, EDR, etc.)
- Exposure to cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP)
- Experience with labs, CTFs, or hands-on security projects
