Purple Wave has grown from a regional online equipment auction company into a national platform, now operating as a subsidiary of Copart, the global leader in online vehicle auctions. As a Paralegal, you'll play an essential role on our legal team working across departments and alongside buyers, sellers, and outside professionals to keep our business moving and protected.
This is a broad, hands-on role. You'll touch everything from corporate governance and contract management to litigation support and compliance. No two days look the same. Legal serves as a critical partner to every corner of the organization, and this position sits at the center of that work, translating legal strategy into organized, executable action.
The Paralegal serves as an essential member of our legal team, working across departments and with buyers, sellers, and outside professionals. Position Responsibilities:

Serve as internal resource for information regarding corporate records, organizational structure, and other governance-related items.

Assist with license applications, trackings, and renewals.

Maintain legal calendar, deadline tracking, and registered agent filings.

Coordinate signatures, notarizations, and tracking of various legal documents.

Assist with administration and updating of legal compliance programs and initiatives.

Assist with contract tracking, maintenance, and at-risk contracts.
-
Assists with preparing non-standard contracts and addendums.
-
Manage routine correspondence, organization of files, and other administrative tasks.

Review, interpret, and coordinate responses to subpoenas, legal requests, and complex or disputed garnishment orders; ensure compliance with applicable laws and advise HR/payroll on legal requirements.

Prepare draft pleadings and process court filings for small claims, limited actions, and civil cases.

Research and respond to interdepartmental inquiries.

Prepare monthly reports summarizing litigation metrics and other legal matters for executives.

Assist with discovery in litigation matters when required and sending out preservation notices.

Assist in processing settlements or complex releases.

Independently perform administrative tasks to open new matters/files in tracking and document management systems.
Qualifications:
-
Bachelor's degree and at least 2 years of relevant professional experience.

Paralegal degree, certificate or NFPA/NALA certification preferred.

Strong written and oral communication skills.

Proficiency in MS Office, including Excel, Outlook, and Word, as well as Adobe Acrobat.

Experience with Thomson Reuters Legal Tracker (formerly Serengeti), NetDocuments, and other document management systems.

Familiarity with searching electronic case management systems.

Excellent organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.

Ability to multitask, prioritize tasks, and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Initiative, critical thinking skills, and a strong desire for ongoing learning and development.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing multiple projects simultaneously.

Previous experience in a law firm or corporate legal department preferred.

Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Working Settings:
-
Full-Time, Hourly, Non-Exempt, eligible for overtime.
-
Office hours are 8am-5pm, Monday through Friday, overtime may be required to achieve due dates. Overtime is compensated in accordance with US Department of Labor requirements.

Based in the Purple Wave headquarters in Manhattan, KS.

Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.

Must be able to access various departments of a given location.
Compensation:
-
Hourly rate varies based on experience and qualifications, but typically ranges from $24.00 per hour to $35.00 per hour and wages are paid bi-weekly.

Monthly Bonus Program - determined by the Company’s monthly revenue result and are paid on a “percent to plan” payout formula. (90% = $300, 100% = $600, 110% = $900, 120% = $1,200).

Monthly phone stipend in accordance with the Company’s cell phone policy, currently $120/month.
