Job Description
Summary: Port of Seattle is seeking a College Intern for their Aviation Facilities & Infrastructure Mechanical Engineering team. The intern will assist with daily operations, including researching mechanical systems and managing infrastructure projects, while gaining exposure to airport mechanical control systems.
Responsibilities:
- Research record documents such as plans, specifications, and technical reports to verify existing equipment and infrastructure locations and capacities
- Assist in developing and managing infrastructure projects
- Field verification and testing involving mechanical areas, ramp, construction sites, and equipment rooms
- Edit drawings and Excel spreadsheets for existing mechanical systems throughout SEA Airport
- Assist in gathering and formatting historical information to be used for the preparation of facility master record drawings
- Compile asset management data (location, condition, nameplate data) and verify against existing asset management database
- Exposure to airport mechanical control systems
Required Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or a recent graduate (< 1 year ago) in a mechanical engineering program or related field
- Ability to effectively process technical information in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to organize fairly large amounts of data and stay focused when working on large data sets
- Good written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills to communicate in writing and in-person with various Port of Seattle employees
- Skill with Microsoft Office products, with a strong emphasis in Excel
- Ability to pass a Transportation Security Administration (TSA) background check as well as a criminal history background check with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI)
- Establish a residence in Washington State within 30 days of their first day of employment and maintain a residence in Washington State during their employment
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with AutoCAD
- Interest in facility infrastructure systems
- Previous exposure to design and/or construction processes
