Job Description
Summary: PI (Physik Instrumente), LP is a leader in high precision positioning systems, and they are seeking a Mechanical Engineering Intern for Fall 2026. The intern will work with product development engineers, preparing drawings and providing CAD support on various engineering projects.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare detail and assembly drawings for precision motion systems
- Provide general CAD support to design engineers
- Generate 2D CAD drawings from 3D solid model layouts
- Load design information into PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) system
- Work on a variety of engineering projects ranging from research and development to building and testing instruments
Required Qualifications:
- Must be currently enrolled in a full-time academic program from an accredited college or university, majoring in mechanical engineering or another related field
- Legally authorized to work in the United States without needing sponsorship
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with using SolidWorks CAD
- Some experience with the manufacturing process
- Vocational school in engineering technology or metal fabrication
