Job Description
Summary: Peoria Christian School is seeking an Administrative Assistant to support daily operations. The role includes managing phone calls, securing substitutes, handling mail, and assisting the principal with various administrative tasks.
Responsibilities:
- Arrive and depart school based on PCS policies
- Answer all incoming phone calls and take messages, etc
- Secure substitutes on a daily basis
- Make copies as directed by the principal
- Send faxes
- Sort and distribute daily mail
- Log immunization and physical forms in compliance with ISBE requirements and submit according to ISBE guidelines
- Count incoming money: soda and milk
- Review and proofread manuals and documents as requested by the principal
- Plan and provide details for projects as directed by the principal or his/her representative
- Attend and participate in all meetings as outlined in the contract or assigned by the principal
- Welcome and assist everyone entering the office in a way that reflects a Christ-like attitude
- Provide first aid, CPR, and AED, as needed, and retain current certification
- Order office supplies based on the Principal’s approval, or other requests as directed by the principal
- Make announcements
- Assist athletic director
- Count concessions money
- Count ticket money
- Other activities as directed by the principal
- Maintain records, including electronically (PowerSchool) and hard copy (cumulative folder), and other records as assigned by the principal
- Prepare News Feed information
- Enter Homework Hotline information
- Distribute necessary lunch information received from the Business Manager and order lunch items
- Create forms
- Organize network parents
- Assist the spiritual life director in retreats as requested
- Assist with field trips as assigned by the principal
- Develop staff duty schedules (lunch, recess, before/after school)
- New student schedule as assigned by the principal
- Communicate staff weekly middle school schedule
- Attendance
- Honor roll
- Print report cards
- Recognize the role of parents as being primarily responsible to God for their children’s education and be prepared to assist them with this task
- Know and comply with emergency and crisis procedures
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, by reviewing professional publications, by establishing personal networks, and by participating in professional societies
- Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations
- Keep proper discipline in the hallways and on school premises
- Enforce the parent/student handbook
- Contribute to the spiritual growth of the students by example, by personal and professional studies, and by personal devotions and worship
- Actively assist and encourage students to grow in their faith
- Develop rapport with students, parents, and staff
- Supervise and sponsor extra-curricular activities, as assigned or needed
- Support the broader program of the school by attending extra-curricular activities when possible
- Recognize the need for and contribute to good public relations inside the school family, as well as outside in the community
- Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
- Attend and participate in scheduled devotionals, staff training, committees, and faculty meetings
- Cooperate with the Board and administration in implementing all policies, procedures, and directives governing operation of the school
- All other duties, as assigned, by the Board, Superintendent, or building principal
Required Qualifications:
- High School education level
