Job Description
Summary: OWN, Inc. is an engineering firm that believes in the power of employee-ownership. They are looking for a Designer to join their Lowell, AR Land Development team, where the intern will assist with permit applications, contribute to project planning, and collaborate in the design process using software tools such as AutoCAD.
Responsibilities:
- Assist with permit applications by gathering necessary information, completing required forms, and ensuring compliance with regulations
- Contribute to the planning phase of projects by conducting research, gathering data, and providing support in developing project plans
- Collaborate with the team in the design process, utilizing software tools such as AutoCAD to create detailed drawings and layouts
- Assist in performing calculations related to project specifications, ensuring accuracy and adherence to engineering standards
- Contribute to the preparation of various documents, including reports, project proposals, and technical specifications
- Aid in estimating quantities and construction costs by analyzing project requirements and applying industry-standard methods
- Support the team in conducting research and preparing reports and studies on relevant engineering topics
Required Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in an ABET-accredited university, pursuing a degree in Civil Engineering with a focus on the relevant field
- Demonstrated progress towards graduating with an Engineering Degree, reflecting a strong academic background and commitment to the field
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Google applications, with the ability to effectively use these tools for data analysis, documentation, and communication
- Basic understanding of ergonomics and safety principles in engineering practices, demonstrating a commitment to maintaining a safe working environment
- Basic technical and design skills, including proficiency in AutoCAD or similar software for creating accurate and detailed engineering drawings
- Successful completion of civil engineering classes within a degree program, showcasing a solid foundation in engineering principles and concepts
