Temporary Biological Sciences Research Technician 1

Summary: Oregon State University is a leading institution focused on research and community engagement. They are seeking a Temporary Biological Sciences Research Technician 1 to assist with a bumble bee automated monitoring project, involving the development, assembly, and maintenance of camera systems for field experiments. Responsibilities: - Assist with deployment, maintenance, and data transfer from camera traps in field. Driving is required for accessing field sites - Assist with programming, testing and assembly of computerized camera traps - Other duties as assigned including communicating and working in groups that establish and maintain inclusive values Required Qualifications: - Two years of college-level courses in (specific field of biological science); OR an equivalent combination of training and experience - Two years of college-level courses in data science, biology, or ecology; OR an equivalent combination of training and experience - Familiarity and experience with Python programming - Capacity and interest to conduct field work - Experience working in groups that maintain inclusive values - This position requires driving a university vehicle or a personal vehicle on behalf of the university; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a motor vehicle history check, possess and maintain a current, valid driver's license in their state of residence, be determined to be position qualified and self-report convictions as per University Policy 05-030 Preferred Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in computer science or data science Required Skills: Biological sciences, Data science, Python programming, Field work, Camera trap deployment, Camera trap maintenance, Data transfer from camera traps, Inclusive values Benefits: Medical, Dental, Vision and Basic Life.
