Job Description
Summary: Oerlikon is a global leader in surface technologies and advanced materials. They are seeking a Temporary Research Intern to collaborate with senior staff in testing and evaluating thermal spray gun performance and conducting experiments to support the development of new technologies.
Responsibilities:
- Set up and operate diagnostic and measuring equipment
- Setup and configure thermal spray equipment such as guns, controls, powder feeders, etc
- Assist with spraying coatings
- Assist with incoming inspection of experimental parts for testing
- Record and provide analytical data on thermal spray gun tests
- Propose and implement design of experiments
- Evaluate test results
- Inspection reports
- Collaborating with Core Technology research team
- Interface with Equipment Operations, CSC, Engineering
Required Qualifications:
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
- Interest in surface engineering, coatings and relevant testing techniques with a basic understanding of material properties
- Possess the ability to adhere to OM safety practices and procedures
- Possess the ability to follow direction and guidance from engineers; inclusive of operation of thermal spray equipment
- Possess excellent written and verbal communications skills with attention to detail
- Must be proficient in using business and communications software (preferably Word, Excel, PowerPoint, common Windows operating systems, and Outlook)
