Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking a Senior Staff Electrical Engineer to support ASIC design on the Sentinel program for an ignition safety device (ISD).
This role will be for a design engineer for the ASIC on the logic board for the Sentinel ISD. The engineer will update the existing design for new or modified requirements from the Sentinel program. The engineer will work with a verification engineer to ensure that all requirements are met for the ASIC design. The ideal candidate should have a strong foundation in Electrical Engineering, FPGA and ASIC design, managing requirement changes and working with subcontractor on the ASIC build and test. The ideal candidate will work closely with the logic board designer to test the ASIC and ensure it meets higher level assembly requirements. Experience with ASIC technical subcontractor management is a must. This role will be working closely with the ISD box design team to present in design reviews, perform development testing of the logic board design and keep program management informed on design progress.
Job duties include:
1. Develop digital logic designs for launch vehicle applications such as Sentinel ignition safety device (ISD).
2. Design, development, creation and modification of digital logic designs implemented with Xilinx and Microsemi FPGA IDEs
3. Simulation and verification of FPGA logic designs, compliance requirements, and supporting validation at the system level
4. Work with members of a multi‐functional teams to design, develop and test the ISD logic board.
5. Clear and effective communication to ISD cross-functional team members including program management.
6. Documentation of design in design reviews as well as analysis reports and test reports.
Basic Qualifications
Sr. Staff: 14 years of experience with a Bachelors in Science, 12 years of experience with a Masters in Science degree, OR 10 years of experience with a PhD
Extensive digital subsystem, ASIC, FPGA and/or digital board development experience and knowledge essential
Experience working with subcontractor for build and test of ASIC designs.
Candidate must have good communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, and good oral and written presentation skills
Must be able to mentor and coach early career Engineers as needed
Must be U.S Citizen
Must be able to obtain and maintain Secret level security clearance, per business requirements
Preferred Qualifications
Active DoD Secret Clearance
Experience translating customer requirements into functional block diagrams that can be realized as FPGAs or other Digital Logic Circuit Card Assemblies
Strong experience with Matlab and Simulink modeling and programming
Develops detailed specifications from high level design goals and performs analysis of the hardware, system environment and design goals to enable selection and implementation of the desired system topology
Can clearly present assigned work at program technical reviews, proposals, or other technical meetings
Possesses strong interpersonal skills to work effectively within a development team to understand system level inter-dependencies and design constraints
Conduct trade studies, identify and present alternate design options
Experience with Systems Engineering principles
Primary Level Salary Range: $183,200.00 - $274,800.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
