Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Electrical Engineer/Principal Electrical Engineer to join our the team. This position is located in Huntsville, AL with alternate location in Roy, UT and supports the Sentinel program.
What You’ll Get To Do:
Chosen candidate will join the Sentinel Systems Engineering, Integration, & Test (SEIT) Business Unit’s System Integration & Sustainment (SIS) Operating Unit and contribute to the Weapon System Integration (WSI) Electrical Design Integration (EDI) Team. This role will support the EDI Team with electrical system design, cross-segment integration, verification activities, and analyses for systems and subsystems. Candidates must be able to understand the intent of Weapon System designs and the engineering processes. The successful candidate will clearly demonstrate foundational electrical engineering knowledge with verbal and written communication skills are required.
This position is for an Electrical Engineer with a broad background and wide interests whose expertise can be applied to the Sentinel program. Responsibilities may include:
May perform research, evaluation, and systems integration in electrical or electro-mechanical systems, cables, connectors, circuit card assemblies, power systems, computer systems, test equipment, and more.
May create, assess, interpret, and recommend changes to engineering drawings
May apply research to the planning, design, development, simulation and testing of electrical systems for use in military applications.
Support analysis at all levels of total weapon system product lifecycle to include concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation and maintenance.
Responsible for supporting the logical and systematic conversion of product requirements into total systems solutions as well as the translation of customer requirements into electrical design specifications.
Perform system modeling and simulation efforts and related design tasking to include technical whitepapers, presentations, stakeholder demos, etc.
Support consistent design and testing processes across the weapon system
An active learner of new design techniques and technologies.
Ability to organize and prioritize job assignments and tasks.
• Assist in determining unit-under-test test requirements and then translating those requirements into a test and repair operational environment
Possess interpersonal skills to work effectively to understand system level interdependencies that impact electrical requirements and design constraints.
Basic Qualifications:
• US Citizenship with an Active Secret Clearance or higher (awarded within the past 6 years) with the ability to receive a Special Access Program (SAP) certification
Electrical Engineer (T02)
Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or an equivalent STEM related discipline (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) from an accredited university with 2 years of relevant experience, 0 years of relevant experience with a Master's degree
Minimum 1+ years working experience on ICBMs
Minimum 1+ years working experience using CAD design tools (i.e. NX, Teamcenter, CATIA, Capital, etc.)
Minimum 1+ years working experience with MBSE tools (ie DOORs, Cameo)
Experience performing electrical troubleshooting, root-cause analysis (RCA), failure modes analysis (FMA), or similar
Strong interdisciplinary problem-solving skills, demonstrated by frequent and successful application of technical standards, theories, concepts, and techniques
Ability to operate independently with minimal supervision as well as in a team environment
Principal Electrical Engineer (T03)
Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or an equivalent STEM related discipline (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) from an accredited university with 5 years of relevant experience, 3 years of relevant experience with a Master's degree, or 1 year of relevant experience with a PhD
Minimum 2+ years working experience on ICBMs
Minimum 2+ years working experience using CAD design tools (i.e. NX, Teamcenter, CATIA, Capital, etc.)
Minimum 2+ years working experience with MBSE tools (ie DOORs, Cameo)
Experience performing electrical troubleshooting, root-cause analysis (RCA), failure modes analysis (FMA), or similar
Strong interdisciplinary problem-solving skills, demonstrated by frequent and successful application of technical standards, theories, concepts, and techniques
Ability to operate independently with minimal supervision as well as in a team environment
Preferred Qualifications:
Past/Active employment with MMIII or Sentinel Weapon Systems
Experience contributing towards various phases of a program lifecycle
Experience with schematic design tools (e.g. Mentor Graphics, Zuken, etc.)
Experience with networking and system architecture
Experience with electro-mechanical or instrumentation system development and design
Cable/harness design experience, especially following military, Northrop Grumman, and or aviation standards.
Experience with CCA evaluation and design
Experience using electrical measurement and test equipment

This positions standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off. This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.
Primary Level Salary Range: $87,600.00 - $131,400.00
Secondary Level Salary Range: $108,800.00 - $163,200.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
