Wireless Systems Research Intern

Summary: Nokia Bell Labs is a global leader in connectivity for the AI era, focused on advancing technology and innovation. The Wireless Systems Research Intern will research, develop, and test software modules for advanced wireless RAN systems while also troubleshooting wireless systems and performing data analysis. Responsibilities: - Research, develop, modify, and test software modules for advanced wireless RAN systems (Layer 1, Layer 2, Layer 3) - Identify techniques for software optimization and build prototypes to prove the idea - Work hands-on to integrate, configure, maintain, and document lab experimentation hardware and implement proof-of-concept testbeds - Troubleshoot end-to-end wireless systems (e.g., log file analysis) - Carry out performance testing, data collection, and post processing / analysis Required Qualifications: - Currently a candidate for a PhD or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Systems Engineering, or related field with an accredited school in the USA - Solid background in wireless communication systems - Expertise in one or more of the following: software development, computer architecture, parallel processing, and operating systems - Proficient in C++, Python, Matlab, Shell scripting - Experience with hands-on lab work on development, integration, and testing of distributed systems (e.g., Cloud RAN) - Experience with Linux server platform Preferred Qualifications: - Some relevant industry experience and/or peer-reviewed publications - Experience with GPU (CUDA) programming and/or Deep Learning - Experience with building and deploying software (CI/CD, Docker, Kubernetes etc.) - Experience with network switch configuration and tools like Wireshark Required Skills: Wireless communication systems, Software development, C++, Python Important Skills: Linux server platform, Matlab, Shell scripting, Distributed systems Nice-to-Have Skills: GPU programming, Deep Learning, CI/CD, Docker, Kubernetes, Network switch configuration, Wireshark Benefits: Flexible and hybrid working schemes to balance study, work, and life, Professional development events and networking opportunities, Well-being programs, including Personal Support Service 24/7 - a confidential support channel open to all Nokia employees and their families in challenging situations, Opportunities to join Nokia Employee Resource Groups (NERGs) and build connections across the organization, Employee Growth Solutions, mentorship programs, and coaching support for your career development, A learning environment that fosters both personal growth and professional development – for your role and beyond
