EXEMPT
This position offers flexibility regarding on-site location within the Southern Market locations (Abingdon & Bristol).
PRIMARY PURPOSE
The Commercial Portfolio Manager (PM) provides credit and portfolio support to a group of Commercial Bankers by managing smaller, less complex commercial relationships and assisting with the ongoing administration of those relationships. This role focuses on renewals, maturities, portfolio monitoring, and balance-sheet review to support strong credit quality and relationship continuity.
The Portfolio Manager does not perform independent underwriting or outbound sales calling. All credit underwriting is completed through the Bank’s centralized underwriting function. The PM is responsible for originating and managing smaller, less complex loan requests that are referred internally or identified through analysis of existing customer relationships. There would be a portfolio growth expectation through internally generated opportunities.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Portfolio and Renewal Management
1. Manage assigned portfolio of smaller, less complex commercial relationships.
2. Track loan maturities and coordinate renewals, extensions, and modifications.
3. Gather financial and documentation required for renewals and reviews.
4. Submit complete credit packages to centralized underwriting in a timely manner.
5. Monitor documentation, covenants, and policy exceptions and work toward resolution.
Loan Origination (Internal & Relationship-Based)
6. Identify lending opportunities within existing customer relationships through analysis of financial statements and debt schedules.
7. Manage loan requests from initial intake through closing in coordination with underwriting and operations.
8. Ensure all required documentation, approvals, and conditions are satisfied prior to closing.
Financial & Relationship Review
9. Review customer financial statements and debt schedules to understand borrowing capacity and structure.
10. Identify and communicate opportunities for additional lending or restructuring to Commercial Bankers.
11. Serve as a point of contact for routine servicing and relationship needs.
Credit & Risk Support (Non-Underwriting)
12. Assemble complete and accurate loan packages for centralized underwriting.
13. Monitor portfolio trends and escalate concerns related to performance or deterioration.
14. Maintain accurate portfolio records and credit files in accordance with policy.
15. Support audit and examination requests related to assigned portfolios.
Collaboration & Support
16. Partner with Commercial Bankers, underwriting, credit administration, and operations.
17. Support banker capacity by managing smaller credits and administrative workflow.
18. Maintain knowledge of commercial products, services, and loan policy.
This role does not:
· Conduct outbound calling or prospecting.
· Perform independent underwriting or approve credit.
· Set pricing, structure, or exception terms outside of standard guidelines.
This role does:
· Originate internally referred or relationship-based loan opportunities.
· Manage loan requests from start to finish within defined complexity limits.
· Support multiple bankers through execution and portfolio management.

Requirements
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or related field preferred; or equivalent banking experience involving commercial lending support or credit administration. Minimum of 2–4 years of relevant experience preferred. Must successfully complete required training.
KEY COMPETENCIES
- Knowledge of commercial loan processes and documentation.
- Ability to review financial statements and debt schedules for insight (non-underwriting).
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and coordination skills.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and commercial lending systems.
