Job Description
Summary: Neighborhood House is a community-focused organization that has been serving families in St. Paul for over 125 years. They are seeking a Human Resources Assistant to provide administrative support for HR operations, including recruiting, onboarding, and benefits administration.
Responsibilities:
- Post and close job openings as instructed
- Coordinate interview scheduling and candidate communications when requested
- Prepare and track offer letters and pre-employment documentation
- Initiate and track background checks
- Enter and maintain employee data in the HRIS
- Send onboarding packets and track completion of required documents
- Support orientation logistics and scheduling
- Track time-bound and compliance-related employee documents (e.g., licenses, certifications, required reviews)
- Maintain digital and physical personnel files
- Enter benefits enrollments and terminations
- Track benefits documentation and deadlines
- Support open enrollment logistics and communications
- Route benefits and leave questions appropriately
- Prepare employment verification letters
- Track performance evaluation completion and acknowledgments
- Assist with unemployment documentation and recordkeeping
- Provide basic HRIS and system-access troubleshooting
- Assist with HRIS setup tasks, including accrual configuration using established templates
Required Qualifications:
- Associate's degree or equivalent experience in HR or administration
- One to three years of administrative experience
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Preferred Qualifications:
- Nonprofit or HR experience
- HRIS experience
- Bilingual or multilingual skills
