Job Description
Summary: The NCAA is a premier Division I collegiate athletic conference committed to maintaining a diverse working environment. They are seeking a Compliance and Governance Intern who will assist with compliance services, governance processes, and support for championships and events, providing hands-on experience in sports administration.
Responsibilities:
- Assistance with the Conference’s compliance services. Examples of associated tasks include:
- NCAA and WCC compliance record management, education and interpretations
- NCAA and WCC waiver administration
- NCAA violation administration
- NCAA legislative process and proposal tracking support
- Participate in preparations for meetings and conference calls, as appropriate
- NCAA committee tracking and reporting
- Assist with the Conference’s governance and student-athlete services. Examples of associated tasks include:
- Governance process and proposal administration support
- WCC Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) support
- Conference research related to governance recommendations and/or sport administration
- Participate in preparations for meetings and conference calls with WCC Cabinets, Committees, and Head Coaches groups, as appropriate
- Attend the Executive Council meetings in October and June
- Assist with the Conference’s championships and events. Examples of associated tasks include:
- Specific duties as assigned at the 2027 WCC Men’s and Women’s Basketball Championship in Las Vegas
- Other opportunities to work at WCC championships and events
- Other projects and responsibilities based on areas of interest and experience
Required Qualifications:
- Some College
- Ability to lift at least 30 pounds
- Effective professional communication, both orally and in writing
- Proficiency in drafting and editing written communications
Preferred Qualifications:
- Demonstrated experience with the WCC's core values of integrity, servant leadership, inclusion, excellence, innovation, communication, and collaboration
- Demonstrated enrollment towards or completion of, a Bachelor's, Master's or equivalent degree required
- Athletics administration and/or sports management experience or related volunteer experience preferred
- Demonstrated high-level proficiency in Microsoft programs (e.g., Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Proficiency and experience with Apple computers and operating systems and Adobe Creative Suite preferred
- Working knowledge of intercollegiate athletics, the West Coast Conference and its institutions' programs and/or higher education preferred
