Summary: The North Carolina Department of Natural and Cultural Resources is responsible for managing the state's natural and cultural resources. They are seeking a Maintenance Supervisor to oversee the upkeep and repair of site facilities, including public bathrooms and hiking trails, while supervising other staff and ensuring quality repairs. Responsibilities: - Using methods, procedures, tools and materials in the general maintenance and repair of buildings, walking trails, equipment and machinery - Using hand and power tools, particularly those used in landscaping and woodworking - Understanding and working from specifications, plans, sketches or penciled drawings - Estimating the needed materials, supplies and cost of repairs and to procure those items not in stock - Preparing and maintaining routine records and reports - Ability to train and supervise other employees, workers, inmates or volunteers Required Qualifications: - High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma - one (1) year of progressive experience in the assigned trade areas - Must be available to work the schedule of Monday - Friday 8:00am - 5:00pm with occasional weekend work required as needed - Must have a valid driver's license issued from within the United States or be able to obtain one within 90 days of employment - Must have a valid NC Pesticide License or be able to obtain one within 90 days of employment Preferred Qualifications: - Experience in trail maintenance and upkeep - Experience in landscaping techniques - Experience in site cleanliness, including but not limited to mowing, weed eating, gathering trash, and cleaning restrooms Required Skills: Trail Maintenance, Landscaping Techniques, Site Cleanliness, Use of Hand, Power Tools, Building Maintenance, Repair, Equipment, Machinery Maintenance, Reading Specifications, Plans, Material Estimation, Procurement, Record Keeping, Employee Training, Supervision, NC Pesticide License Benefits: A sign-on bonus of $1000 is being offered for eligible candidates.
