About the role:
MUFG is seeking an Associate Relationship Manager to join their Corporate Coverage team in Melbourne, supporting a diverse portfolio of institutional clients across the Resources, Utilities, Infrastructure, Transport and Diversified sectors. This role offers you the opportunity to work closely with experienced Relationship Managers and product specialists, engaging in all aspects of client relationship management from marketing and onboarding through to transaction execution.

What you'll do:
As an Associate Relationship Manager, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the Corporate Coverage team’s efforts across a broad spectrum of industries. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve:
Support the relationship management of institutional clients by conducting industry analysis to facilitate onboarding and retention within key sectors such as Resources, Utilities, Infrastructure, Transport and Diversified.
Coordinate the onboarding process for new clients as part of local, regional and global growth initiatives, preparing pitch presentations in collaboration with Relationship Managers and product teams.
Assist in the origination and execution of new business opportunities, contributing to the financial performance of the client portfolio while ensuring seamless deal execution.
Optimise client interactions by mastering internal processes and proactively identifying ways to enhance the client experience through effective coordination with cross-functional teams.
Take primary responsibility for pricing and returns analysis as well as screening materials for new business and refinancing activities across the client set.
Engage directly with clients when required, demonstrating a responsive approach to their needs and strengthening relationships through solutions-oriented support.
Complete and update account plans for all clients, presenting these plans at screening committees and to senior management alongside Relationship Managers.
Maintain an accurate transaction pipeline by tracking new opportunities, updating deal progress, and collaborating with product teams to ensure comprehensive coverage of all client-related activity.
Lead engagement with various product areas including debt capital markets, transaction banking, global markets, ESG finance, project finance, leverage & acquisition finance.
Coordinate Know Your Customer (KYC) processes efficiently to ensure compliance and smooth onboarding.
What you bring:
To excel in this role you will bring proven experience from banking or finance environments where supporting client coverage has been central to your responsibilities.
3 to 5 years’ experience in banking or finance roles with preference given to candidates who have supported client coverage either directly or indirectly.
An undergraduate degree in Business, Commerce, Finance or Law from a leading university is essential for this position.
Knowledge of Resources, Utilities, Infrastructure, Transport or Diversified markets along with familiarity with relevant deal structures is highly desirable.
A broad understanding of corporate and investment banking product suites enables you to contribute effectively across multiple business lines.
Investment banking skill sets will be considered favourably as they complement the requirements of this role.
Sound understanding of client account planning coupled with pipeline management expertise ensures you can track opportunities accurately.
Exceptional stakeholder management skills—both internal and external—are vital alongside strong interpersonal abilities and presentation skills.
Solid mathematical knowledge paired with proficiency in Excel spreadsheets supports your research and analytical tasks.
Clear communication skills—both written and verbal—allow you to convey complex information effectively across various audiences.
