Job Description
Summary: MITRE is a not-for-profit corporation committed to tackling the nation's toughest challenges. The TECH Futures Internship offers students the opportunity to work alongside MITRE engineers in emerging technology areas such as cybersecurity, AI, and microelectronics, while gaining technical skills and industry certifications.
Responsibilities:
- You’ll work alongside MITRE engineers to design, develop, and implement solutions and technologies to address the greatest challenges of our sponsors
- You will be exposed to MITRE’s world-class expertise, innovation, and leadership and learn how we protect our government sponsors and promote their mission and operational success
- From design to operations, you will learn to apply security engineering expertise, innovative concepts, and technology solutions to address every facet of our sponsor's challenges in these strategic areas:
- Cybersecurity systems, tools and technology such as threat-based engineering, reverse engineering, privacy, resilience, cyber strategy and novel technology development
- Artificial intelligence systems, tools and technology such as modeling, software development and data analytics
- Microelectronic systems, tools and technology such as digital and analog design, microprocessors, integrated circuits, hardware and software engineering
Required Qualifications:
- Rising sophomores to rising seniors enrolled full time in an accredited, degree-seeking a BS degree in computer science, electrical engineering, computer engineering, cybersecurity, policy, national security, or related discipline
- Basic knowledge of cybersecurity systems, tools and technology such as threat-based engineering, reverse engineering, privacy, resilience, cyber strategy and novel technology development
- Basic knowledge of artificial intelligence systems, tools and technology such as modeling, software development and data analytics
- Basic knowledge of microelectronic systems, tools and technology such as digital and analog design, microprocessors, integrated circuits, hardware and software engineering
- Demonstrated interest in cybersecurity, AI, quantum principles and microelectronics systems, tools, and technology
- Sustained excellence in academic performance
- Due to federal sponsor requirements, this position is open only to U.S. citizens
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience applying knowledge in internships, research, labs, student projects, or competitions in the following areas: cybersecurity systems, tools and technology such as threat-based engineering, reverse engineering, privacy, resilience, cyber strategy and novel technology development
- Experience applying knowledge in internships, research, labs, student projects, or competitions in the following areas: artificial intelligence systems, tools and technology such as modeling, software development and data analytics
- Experience applying knowledge in internships, research, labs, student projects, or competitions in the following areas: microelectronic systems, tools and technology such as digital and analog design, microprocessors, integrated circuits, hardware and software engineering
- High level of desire to help the nation solve its most critical problems
- Exhibits the characteristics of a continuous learner
- An interdisciplinary approach to problem solving
