Software Development Consultant - CTJ - TS/SCI

Summary: Microsoft is seeking a Software Development Consultant to join Microsoft Federal, which focuses on addressing the unique requirements of the United States Government. The role involves contributing to software development, integration, and modernization efforts while providing opportunities for mentorship and skill development in cloud-native and secure application delivery. Responsibilities: - Contribute as a Cloud Engineering or delivery team supporting Microsoft Federal customers - Assist in the design, development, testing, and maintenance of software components and services - Develop and enhance backend services or APIs using supported languages and frameworks under senior guidance - Support integration with Azure services such as storage, messaging, and identity components - Participate in building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment processes - Assist with troubleshooting and resolving development, build, or environment issues - Follow established secure coding standards and development best practices - Participate in code reviews, sprint planning, and team ceremonies - Learn and apply cloud‑native and containerized development patterns over time - Document work and contribute to team knowledge sharing - Growth & Development:You will receive coaching and mentorship from experienced engineers and have opportunities to deepen your skills in areas such as: Azure cloud development and services, Secure software development for government environments, DevOps and automation, Distributed systems and cloud‑native architectures, Embody our culture and values Required Qualifications: - Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Finance, Business, or related field - 1+ year(s) work experience in relevant area of business OR equivalent experience - The successful candidate must have an active U.S. Government TOP SECRET/SCI Security Clearance - Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role - Failure to maintain or obtain the appropriate clearance and/or customer screening requirements may result in employment action up to and including termination - This position requires successful verification of the stated security clearance to meet federal government customer requirements - This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter - This position requires verification of U.S. citizenship due to citizenship-based legal restrictions Preferred Qualifications: - 1–3 years of professional experience in software development, engineering, or a related technical discipline - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience) - Familiarity with at least one modern programming language such as C#, Python, or JavaScript/TypeScript - Basic understanding of cloud concepts, preferably within Microsoft Azure - Exposure to source control systems (e.g., Git) and collaborative development workflows - Willingness to learn infrastructure‑as‑code concepts (e.g., Bicep, ARM, Terraform) under guidance - Familiarity with REST APIs and service‑based application design concepts - Interest in DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, and modern software delivery practices - Ability to work effectively in a team environment and communicate clearly with peers and stakeholders - Eligibility to work on U.S. Government projects (including the ability to obtain a security clearance, if required) Required Skills: Software Development, C#, Python, JavaScript, TypeScript, Microsoft Azure, Source Control, Git, Infrastructure as Code, Bicep, ARM, Terraform, REST APIs, DevOps, CI/CD Pipelines, Secure Software Development
