Job Description
Summary: Michaels Stores is the leading destination for creating and celebrating in North America, operating over 1,300 stores. They are seeking a Part-Time Party & Event Host to plan and coordinate engaging events, deliver exceptional customer service, and support store operations.
Responsibilities:
- Plan, coordinate, and facilitate events (including kids birthday parties) within a Michaels store to provide a stress-free, fun, and engaging experience for guests
- Deliver friendly customer service by helping customers shop at our store and find what they’re looking for
- Ensure all customers receive a fast and friendly checkout experience
- Complete operational tasks including truck unload, merchandise duties, and maintaining store recovery standards as needed to deliver our Brand Promises
- Plan and coordinate multiple events at once including children’s birthday parties and other craft classes or events
- Engage with clients of all ages, from 4 to 94+, by creating an environment of fun and creativity
- Demonstrate and instruct party participants in the completion of craft projects, perform face painting and other activities
- Facilitate and implement party add-ons such as goody bags, balloons, etc. to company standards
- Communicate events with clients and store team members
- Complete administrative tasks such as answering emails, making phone calls, and completing paperwork as needed
- Adjust plans and events based on client’s feedback and needs
- Create backup or emergency plans to be executed as needed
- Ensure client satisfaction for scheduled events
- Uphold the company’s cleanliness and safety standards. Set up, break down, and clean before and after each event
- Help customers shop, locate products, and provide them with solutions
- Provide fast and friendly check out experience
- Engage customers on benefits of Rewards program and Private Label Credit Cards and complete enrollments
- Educate customer on Voice of Customer (VOC) survey
- Assist with Omni channel processes, including Buy Online Pickup in Store (BOPIS) and Ship From Store (SFS)
- Participate in the truck un-load, stocking and planogram (POGs) processes
- Complete merchandise recovery and maintenance
- Perform Store in Stock Optimization (SISO) and AD set duties as assigned
- Support shrink and safety programs
- Adhere to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Company programs to ensure compliance with applicable laws and requirements; execute Company policies and standards
- Interact with others in an accepting and respectful manner; remain positive and respectful, even in difficult situations; promote commitment to the organization’s vision and values; project a positive image and serve as a role model for other Team Members
- Cross trained in Custom Framing selling and production
- Participate in daily store cleanliness activities including (but not limited to) sweeping, vacuuming, dusting, and maintaining cleanliness of restrooms
Required Qualifications:

- Must have excellent people skills
- Must have experience working with children and children's events
- Must have good communication skills including written, verbal, and nonverbal communication as well as listening skills
- Must have organizational skills, interpersonal skills, and creative problem-solving skills
- Retail and/or customer service experience required
