Course Description: This constitutional law course provides an introduction to the principles, institutions, and evolution of Canadian constitutional law. It will allow students to become familiar with the formal and informal sources of constitutional law, understand its architecture and transformations, and better interpret current political and legal news. By the end of the course, students will have mastered the foundations of constitutional law, including the theory of separation of powers, federalism, and constitutionalism. They will have a basic understanding of regimes for protecting rights and freedoms, rights of linguistic minorities, and public law relating to indigenous peoples.
TQR: At a minimum, a first degree in law. Several years of significant practice or professional experience in the relevant field; experience in teaching undergraduate law students in a bilingual environment.
