Head High School Boys’ Basketball Coach
Job Summary
• Responsible for organizing the Boys’ Basketball program at the high school.
• Conducting practices, motivating students, and instructing student athletes in game strategies and
techniques.
Essential Duties
• Instructing players in the rules, regulations, equipment, and techniques of the sport.
• Organize and direct individual and small group practice activities/exercises.
• Assesses player’s skills, monitors players during competition and practice.
• Determining game strategy.
• Supervise athletes during practices and competition.
• Follow established procedures in the event of an athlete’s injury.
• Model sports-like behavior and maintains appropriate conduct towards players, officials, and spectators.
• Distributes equipment, supplies, and uniforms to students.
• Submitting a list of award winners at the end of the season.
• Participates in special activities to include award nights, and pep assemblies.
• Must be able to attend all practices and games.
• Evaluate assistant coaches
• Develop and organize out of season player development
• Ability to have a co-curricular approach that incorporates district initiatives into coaching and team
development.
Other Duties
• Attends staff development meetings, clinics and other professional activities to improve coaching
performance.
• Perform any other related duties as assigned by the Athletic Director, & Principal or other appropriate
administrator.
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills and/or Abilities Required)
• High school head coaching experience preferred.
• Must possess effective coaching techniques and skills. Must possess knowledge of the rules, regulations,
strategies, and techniques of the sport.
• Must possess the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school
administrators, parents, and students.
Rate of pay is $5,792.00 - $6,577.00, DOE
