Job Description
Summary: The Major League Baseball Players Association (MLBPA) seeks a summer MBA intern who will gain valuable experience working within a prominent sports union. The intern will assist in analyzing industry trends in support of collective bargaining and work on various projects related to the MLBPA’s negotiations.
Responsibilities:
- Assisting the Senior Data Scientist, Economics & Collective Bargaining, and other staff in a variety of projects related to preparations for the MLBPA’s collective bargaining negotiations
- Analysis and synthesization of large datasets including (but not limited to) those related to players, teams, and other leagues
- Execution of internal deliverables including memos and presentations
- Other projects as needed
Required Qualifications:
- Completed first year of full-time MBA program
- 1 – 2+ years of relevant work experience
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong technical skills including Microsoft suite of programs
- Strong data wrangling and data presentations skills (e.g., R, SQL, Python)
- Ability to understand and dissect financial information and financial statements
- Knowledge of Major and Minor League Baseball Players
- General understanding of MLB economics and industry
Preferred Qualifications:
- Hybrid – New York City – 3 days per week in the office, while working the other two days remotely is preferred
