Role Profile
The Manager, Index Research & Design, will work in the FTSE Russell Index Research & Design team. The role reports to the Head of Index Research & Design, APAC and is based in Shanghai. The Index Research & Design team are responsible for the development, design and research of indices and index related materials. The team works closely with both internal front and back office departments and FTSE Russell’s partners and key clients, including major asset owners, fund managers and investment banks in the creation of new index products. This involves the use of fundamental and quantitative techniques to design and provide index solutions and analysis across all asset classes. It is a distributed team, with members in London, New York, Shanghai, Taipei, Mumbai, Hong Kong.
Key Responsibilities
· Play a key role in the business activities of the Index Research & Design team
Work closely with key partners in the development of alternatively weighted, factor-based and sustainable investment indices employing quantitative portfolio investment techniques.
Carry out equity investment research and produce research materials, papers and other collateral
Support and influence the development and growth of the equity product suite across key client segments
Act as a Subject Matter Expert on the equity index product offering
Maintain strong relationships and effective communication with the development, product, sales and marketing functions.
Development of investment analytics and research tools.
Drive process change to achieve improvements in operational risk across the division
Candidate Profile / Key Skills
QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE
It is expected that with limited supervision the individual will deliver each of the key objectives of the role identified above, working to strict deadlines and to the highest degree of accuracy. The individual should therefore have:
Comprehensive knowledge of quantitative investment analytics; including style factor models, portfolio construction techniques including tilting and optimization based approaches and risk and performance attribution.
Extensive equity investment and analytics experience – 10+ years on either sell or buy side with a thorough understanding of the role and usage of indices.
Strong knowledge and understanding of global financial markets and products, encompassing equities, currencies, and exchange-traded products
Substantial experience in the use of SQL, Matlab, Python in an analytical environment.
Track record of developing equity products from idea conception to benchmark creation and the ability to manage a team to strict deadlines with competing priorities to deliver.
Proven ability to work with global clients including asset owners, investment consultants, and asset managers and a deep understanding of the investment process
Influence strategy development and decision making
Excellent presentation and writing skills
Ability to work in a demanding Front Office environment and cross-functionally with different teams within the Benchmark & Indices Division and the wider LSE Group
Post-graduate degree in a quantitative discipline.
