Lead with Purpose, Unlock Your Team’s Passion
At LPL, people leaders and senior individual contributors hold the key to the employee experience — shaping culture, driving performance, and guiding individuals to new heights. Because when that happens, we all win – clients, LPL, and most importantly, our employees.
If you're ready to lead with intention and discover what’s possible, LPL Financial invites you to apply today.
LPL Financial is the nation’s largest independent broker‑dealer and a Fortune 500 fintech leader, supporting more than $1.2 trillion in assets through a modern technology platform that powers over 22,000 advisors. Technology is not just a support function at LPL — it is a primary growth engine.
As a Chief Architect, Investor Experience Technology, you will operate at the intersection of business strategy, product innovation, and enterprise architecture, shaping the future of investor‑facing digital platforms. This is a rare opportunity to influence architecture at enterprise scale while remaining deeply hands‑on in defining modern, cloud‑native, API‑first solutions that directly impact end investors and advisors.
Job Overview
This newly created role serves as a senior individual‑contributor architecture leader within Investor Experience Technology. The Distinguished Architect partners directly with the EVP/CIO and executive leadership to define target‑state architecture across investor‑facing platforms while contributing to the broader enterprise architecture strategy.
The role blends strategic influence with deep technical engagement — guiding domain architects, shaping architectural standards, and ensuring business strategy, regulatory considerations, and industry best practices are translated into scalable, secure, and resilient technology solutions.
Responsibilities
Define and steward target‑state architecture for mission‑critical investor‑facing platforms, including upstream and downstream dependencies.
Partner with business, product, and technology leaders to align architectural strategy with enterprise priorities and funding decisions.
Guide and influence domain‑aligned solution and data architects to maintain architectural coherence and quality.
Establish and evolve architectural standards, principles, reusable assets, and frameworks that drive scalability, security, performance, and quality.
Lead modernization initiatives including cloud adoption, API‑first transformation, and migration from monolithic to microservices architectures.
Identify opportunities for enterprise reuse, efficiency, and improved business outcomes through architectural alignment.
Monitor emerging technologies (e.g., AI/ML, data mesh) and apply them thoughtfully to transform investor and advisor experiences.
What are we looking for?
We’re looking for strong collaborators who deliver exceptional client experiences and thrive in fast‑paced, team‑oriented environments. Our ideal candidates pursue greatness, act with integrity, and are driven to help our clients succeed. We value those who embrace creativity, continuous improvement, and contribute to a culture where we win together and create and share joy in our work.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field.
3 or more years of experience designing enterprise‑class solution and data architectures, including microservices, event‑driven systems, and user‑experience platforms.
Demonstrated experience leading major transformations from monolithic to cloud‑native architectures (AWS preferred).
Experience in API‑first architecture, Domain Driven Design (DDD), and modern data architectures (e.g., data mesh).
Core Competencies
Strategic systems thinking with the ability to translate business strategy into executable architecture.
Influence‑based leadership in matrixed, large‑scale technology environments.
Continuous learning mindset across modern engineering practices, DevOps, and enterprise agility.
Preferences
Master’s degree in a related technical field.
Financial services experience, particularly in wealth management or securities.
AWS Solution Architect certification and/or Snowflake experience.
