Job Description
Summary: Lockheed Martin is a global security and aerospace company that employs approximately 114,000 people worldwide and is principally engaged in advanced technology systems. They are seeking a Pulsed Power Engineer to support the design, analysis, test, and manufacturing of high voltage systems for defense applications, working closely with cross-functional teams.
Responsibilities:
- Design high voltage, high current, and high frequency power electronics modules (pulse forming networks, MOSFET/IGBT/SiC drivers, resonant converters, bias networks)
- Model pulsed power dynamics, resonant cavities, and microwave feed line interactions
- Analyzing test data, including signal post-processing, visualization, and comparison with modeled data
- Using computing tools such as MATLAB for simulation, modeling, and data analysis
- Produce schematics and multi layer PCB layouts using tools such as Mentor Graphics
- Perform circuit analyses; generate bills of materials (BOMs) and manufacturing packages
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams including hardware engineers, systems engineers, circuit design engineers, and manufacturing support personnel
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related STEM field from an accredited university
- Minimum 1 year of professional experience in pulsed power, high power microwaves, or a related discipline
- Coursework or professional familiarity with electromagnetics, RF, and/or high voltage engineering
- Proficiency with MATLAB (intermediate level or above)
- Experience with or knowledge of electrical and RF test equipment (e.g., oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzer, network analyzer, RF power meters, signal generators)
- Experience with schematic capture, multi-layer PCB layout, and generation of manufacturing deliverables (Cadence, Xpedition, etc)
- Must be a US Citizen; must possess or be able to obtain a DoD Secret security clearance
Preferred Qualifications:
- Related pulsed power/high power microwave/high voltage internship or early career experience in design, analysis, or test
- Effective communication and teamwork skills; ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders
- Experience with RF/microwave circuit simulation or 3D electromagnetic simulation tools (e.g., HFSS, CST)
- Experience troubleshooting designs and resolving integration issues
- Familiarity with reviewing and interpreting technical documentation such as specifications, schematic diagrams, and test data
- Demonstrated academic or professional achievement in engineering or related discipline
- Active DoD Secret or Top Secret Clearance
