Job Description
Summary: Lockheed Martin is a leading technology innovation company focused on space and security solutions. They are seeking a Materials and Processes Engineer to work on a range of projects in both laboratory and manufacturing environments, developing and evaluating new technologies critical to mission success.
Responsibilities:
- Work on a broad range of projects, in both a laboratory and manufacturing environment, that will challenge you to learn and grow in your career
- Select Parts, Materials, and Processes (PMP) on new designs that will help defend our country, get hands-on manufacturing experience of the next satellite, or provide oversight to an extensive supply chain providing products critical to Mission Success
- Perform Materials and Processes (M&P) technical engineering assignments
- Solve problems and find creative solutions
- Participate in the selection, qualification, testing, and failure analysis of materials & processes, prepare technical and progress reports on work you're doing, prepare specifications, evaluate suppliers and analyze test reports
- Coordinate with other fields such as Design Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality Engineering, and Procurement
Required Qualifications:
- Materials and process engineering related background and/or field of study
- Knowledge in one or more of the following materials and processes engineering areas of expertise: Metal finishing processes including plating, anodizing, chemical conversion coating
- Knowledge in one or more of the following materials and processes engineering areas of expertise: Passivation or organic materials such as paints, adhesives, lubricants, bonding
- Knowledge in one or more of the following materials and processes engineering areas of expertise: Components: Circuit Card Assemblies and Printed Wiring Boards (CCAs and PWBs)
- Eligibility/willingness to obtain and maintain a Top Secret Security Clearance - U.S. Citizenship Required
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college in Physics, Material Sciences, Metallurgical Engineering, Chemical Engineering or a related discipline
- Experience conducting problem investigations, failure analysis, and manufacturing operations
- Experience developing design, environmental and operational requirements for materials in aerospace applications
- Experience reviewing engineering drawings and/or specifications
- Fleet Ballistic Missile (FBM) Program Experience
- Knowledge of environmental and operational requirements for materials in missile applications
- Experience supporting manufacturing engineers on the floor and working with suppliers
- Experience in participating in major program milestone reviews such as PDR and CDR
- Supplier auditing experience
- Green or Black Belt with continuous improvement experience
- Active or Current Top Secret clearance
