Job Description
Summary: Lazard is one of the world’s preeminent financial advisory and asset management firms, known for its collaborative culture and entrepreneurial spirit. As an Analyst on the Shareholder Advisory and Activism Defense Team, you will advise public company boards and C-Suite executives on complex topics including shareholder activism and corporate governance, utilizing quantitative analysis and data analytics tools.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain quantitative models and proprietary analytical frameworks to support client advisory work
- Analyze and synthesize data from shareholder base, shareholder activism and equity markets databases
- Leverage AI-enabled research and analytics platforms to automate workflows and facilitate analysis
- Support advice regarding activism and hostile takeover defense and strategic M&A with shareholder analytics and shareholder engagement advice
- Track and evaluate trends in equity ownership, shareholder activism and corporate governance
- Contribute to thought leadership efforts and participate in internal marketing initiatives
- Take a leadership role in publishing topical memos for internal and external client use
Required Qualifications:
- 1 year of work experience in a relevant field, including investment banking, consulting or accounting
- Excellent academic credentials
- Demonstrated interest in and facility with quantitative data analytics, modeling and AI
- Experience building, maintaining and deriving conclusions from large data sets using quantitative tools
- Interest in shareholder activism, corporate governance and/ or public equity market ecosystem
- Strong interpersonal skills and desire to work across interdisciplinary teams
- Confident and skilled communicator in both written and verbal format
- Demonstrated track record of success in an intellectually demanding, fast paced environment
- Excellent time management skills and ability to work on multiple high priority projects simultaneously
- Highly motivated self-starter with intellectual curiosity and ability to think creatively on bespoke projects
