Research Technician I/II (Peters Lab)

Summary: La Jolla Institute for Immunology is a world-renowned institute seeking a highly motivated Research Technician to study human immune responses to seasonal Influenza vaccination. The successful candidate will perform experiments critical for high-impact projects investigating immune reactivity against Influenza and other pathogens. Responsibilities: - Perform and analyze data derived from flow cytometry-based experiments using state-of-the-art flow cytometry technology, including spectral cytometry - Apply a wide range of other immunological techniques including but not limited to isolating primary cells, long term cell culture, RNA/DNA extraction, multiplex cytokine assays, and FluoroSpot/ELISPOT assays Required Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree or higher in Life Sciences - Laboratory experience: pipetting, cell culture, making calculations, etc - Proficient usage of Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint - Must be willing to work with recombinant DNA, biohazardous materials, and human blood - Eagerness to learn and develop laboratory skills - Ability to work independently and as part of a team - Excellent organizational and communication skills - Strong critical thinking skills and attention to detail Preferred Qualifications: - Experience in an immunology or cellular/molecular biology laboratory - Experience with flow cytometry - Experience with data analysis and visualization Required Skills: Flow Cytometry, Spectral Cytometry, Immunological Techniques, Primary Cell Isolation, Cell Culture, RNA Extraction, DNA Extraction, Multiplex Cytokine Assays, FluoroSpot Assays, ELISPOT Assays, Laboratory Pipetting, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint Benefits: Medical/dental/vision benefits, Paid sick leave, Contributions to a retirement plan (403B)
