Job Description
Summary: Kirkland & Ellis is a leading law firm known for its commitment to legal excellence and innovation. They are seeking an AI Innovation Analyst to work within the Capital Markets team, applying AI to enhance legal workflows and support complex transactions.
Responsibilities:
- Design AI-Driven Legal Workflows: Partner with senior attorneys to encode expert legal judgment into reusable, scalable AI workflows that support capital markets transactions
- Build Prompt and Agent Architectures: Develop and refine prompt designs and multi-step, agentic systems that handle complex reasoning, decision hierarchies, and multi-source synthesis
- Evaluate and Improve AI Performance: Test AI outputs against attorney benchmarks using structured scoring frameworks, iterating based on data and qualitative feedback
- Develop Knowledge Systems: Create and maintain structured datasets and data pipelines that capture institutional knowledge and connect AI outputs to firm technology platforms
- Analyze and Report Impact: Track performance, efficiency gains, and adoption metrics, translating findings into insights for firm leadership
- Support Live Deal Pilots: Run AI workflows on active transactions, coordinate with deal teams, monitor real-time performance, and troubleshoot issues as they arise
- Enable Attorney Adoption: Serve as a technical resource to help attorneys optimize AI tools through training, guidance, and hands-on support
- Stay Ahead of AI Advances: Monitor new model capabilities and tools, incorporating relevant innovations into workflow improvements
- Provide General Transaction Support: Assist with document preparation, organization, and transaction mechanics as needed during live pilots
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree required; computer science, data science, engineering, information systems, or a related technical field strongly preferred
- Early-career or recent graduate background with demonstrated technical proficiency; prior legal experience is not required
- Working knowledge of Python, R, or similar languages, with familiarity in Large Language Models (LLMs), prompt engineering, and AI tooling such as ChatGPT or Claude
- Comfort working with structured and unstructured data, spreadsheets, document formats (Word, PDF), and understanding how data architecture affects AI performance
- Ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear explanations and convert expert feedback into actionable system designs
- Proven ability to manage multiple workstreams with accuracy and follow-through in a fast-paced environment
- Strong interest in AI and professional services, paired with the ability to work effectively with professionals at all levels
- Willingness to commit to a one-year role and work overtime, including evenings or weekends, as transactions require
