Job Description
Summary: KC Harvey Environmental is an environmental consulting and field services firm headquartered in Bozeman, Montana. They are seeking a Natural Resource Technician Intern to conduct natural resource field surveys and support project managers with data analysis and reporting duties.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct field surveys using established protocols for vegetation monitoring, wildlife habitat assessments, wetland delineations, wildlife surveys, and more
- Use GPS, digital data forms or app-based forms, and hard copy data forms to collect data
- Work with other field staff, under the supervision of field leads or project managers
- Assist field lead or project managers with data entry, quality assurance, analysis, and summarization to meet protocol and regulatory requirements
Required Qualifications:
- BS in range management, ecology, biology, or applicable field or working toward such degree
- 1 to 2 years of experience in natural resource field work preferred, however college students with an applicable field of study that includes botany, biology, range science, or wildlife are encouraged to apply
- Ability to work remotely, possibly solo, in inclement weather conditions
- Willingness to travel on extended, overnight field mobilizations
- A positive attitude and ability to work well as part of a team
- A valid driver's license and clean driving record
- Have experience driving 4x4 pickup trucks, ATVs, and UTVs
- A commitment to High Standards in Safety
- Ability to participate in pre-employment drug and alcohol test
Preferred Qualifications:
- Preferred experience working in the Northern Great Plains, Rocky Mountains, and Intermountain West, including identification of fauna, flora, ecological assemblages, wetlands, and soils
