KBR is seeking a motivated and experienced mechanical and electromechanical subsystem engineer to join our team in El Segundo, CA.
KBR is the prime contractor on the Military Satellite Communications (MILSATCOM) Systems Engineering, Integration and Test (MSEIT) contract. By applying to this position, you are in consideration for KBR employment; however, you also have the option to be hired by one of our subcontractor teammates.
The MSEIT effort provides leading-edge Systems Engineering & Integration (SE&I) for the United States Space Force’s (USSF) Space Systems Command (SSC). We acquire state-of-the-art Military and Commercial Satellite Communications (SATCOM) systems, providing global secure, survivable, and protected communications for our nation’s warfighters. Key Responsibilities:
· Provide technical leadership and perform engineering assessments in support of the ESS Program Office for the delivery of electromechanical space vehicle subsystems by the prime contractor.
· Lead system-level trades and support the design, integration, and post-payload integration testing of units and subsystems, ensuring technical performance and mission success.
· Ensure integrity of the technical design and interface compatibility across the space vehicle, including coordination with ground and terminal segments.
· Support component- and unit-level test programs, including space qualification testing to validate survivability in relevant space environments. Develop and review required test documentation, including test plans, procedures, and reports.
· Support the overall space vehicle test program, ensuring compliance with environmental and performance requirements. Prepare and maintain comprehensive test documentation, including plans and reports.
· Build and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with government customers, prime contractors, and FFRDC partners to effectively coordinate technical activities and resolve issues.

Qualifications:
Required:
An active Secret Clearance is required for this position
Bachelor’s degree in a technical field, such as engineering, mathematics, physics, or computer science
15 years’ experience with mechanical or electromechanical subsystems
Strong interpersonal skills, communication (oral and written), and presentation skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)
Requirement to work on site at LAAFB 100%. Remote work unavailable
Approximately 10% travel within Southern California and CONUS, depending on prime contractor selection of unit suppliers
Desired:
TS/SCI clearance
Master’s degree in a technical field, such as engineering, mathematics, physics, or computer science
Experience with Military or DOD or IC space systems
Experience with MILSATCOM, such as AEHF, PTS, EPS, WGS, and FAB-T terminal programs
Experience with space systems engineering at the unit, subsystem, spacecraft or space vehicle levels
Professional certifications (e.g., PMP, INCOSE CSEP / ESEP / ASEP)
Basic Compensation: $162,000 to $200,000 in California
The offered rate will be based on the selected candidate’s knowledge, skills, abilities and/or experience and in consideration of internal parity.
