Summary: Johns Hopkins Hospital is a world-renowned leader in patient care, serving the greater Baltimore community and patients from all across the globe. The Histo Prep Tech prepares tissue samples for microscopic examination by a pathologist and adheres to standard operating procedures under supervision. Responsibilities: - Loading and unloading of processors - Embedding of routine tissue samples - Maintenance of tissue processors - Retrieving and filing of blocks and slides - Transportation of specimens and paperwork - Printing and or completing Histoweb worksheets - Quality Control documentation - Recognizes and reports problems and or discrepancies - Following safety procedures - Utilizes Histoweb / computer applications - Operates printers, stainer or coverslippers - Inventory / supply storage and management - Other related duties as assigned Required Qualifications: - High school diploma with successful completion of high school courses in biology, chemistry and math - Authorization to Work in the United States: Applicants who require sponsorship now or in the future will not be considered for this position Preferred Qualifications: - Three months in a laboratory environment, surgical pathology, or related education/lab exposure preferred Required Skills: Tissue sample preparation, Histoweb applications Important Skills: Quality Control documentation, Biology knowledge, Chemistry knowledge Benefits: Career growth and development, Tuition Assistance, Diverse and collaborative working environment, Affordable and comprehensive benefits package
