Job Description
Summary: IPCC is seeking a Design and Manufacturing Engineer to support the design, testing, and prototyping phases of both new and existing products. The role involves creating production drawings, supporting injection mold tool design, and ensuring products meet quality control standards.
Responsibilities:
- As a Design and Manufacturing Engineer, you will be involved in providing support for the design, testing, and prototyping phases of both new and existing products
- In this role you will be responsible for creating 2D drawings for production, defining critical to quality inspection points, and updating / maintaining BOMs
- Assist in supporting injection mold tool design efforts and ensuring tools are completed on schedule
- Create and maintain the master plan layout for all plant facilities
- Assist in the procurement of new equipment, ensuring seamless integration with the plant layout
- Support the installation of future automation equipment
- Create systems and production processes to ensure all products meet quality control standards
- Research and test design ideas to determine feasibility, utilizing Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, Six Sigma, and/or root cause analysis to formulate/support innovation, corrective actions, and continuous improvement activities
- Creates and maintains required manufacturing process documentation, including process flow charts, capacity and utilization studies, time and motion studies, standard work, cycle time analysis and line balancing
- Collaborates with cross-functional teams to gain insight and direction
Required Qualifications:
- Experience with plastic injection molding machines and processes in addition to other industrial automation products and components
- 1-3 years of experience in manufacturing of machined parts, assembly of components, injection molded components, and ISO quality standards
- 1-3 years of experience with product design specifically for injection molded products
- 1-3 years of experience using SolidWorks, Autodesk Inventor, and AutoCAD
- Knowledge of production processes, costs, quality control, raw materials and other methods for maximizing the efficient manufacture and distribution of goods
- Hands-on experience building small prototypes
- Ability to design and understand precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models
- Knowledge of how various systems interact and how changes in operations, the environment and other conditions will affect the outcome
- Exhibit meticulous attention to detail, have the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented, and deadline-driven environment
- Demonstrate the ability to manage multiple projects, effectively prioritize workload and be committed to continuous process improvement
- Practical experience in industrial automation
- Ability to work cooperatively and effectively with others to set goals, resolve problems; ability to undertake self-directed tasks when necessary
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to work independently
