Job Description
Summary: Instituto del Progreso Latino is a community organization dedicated to empowering Latino individuals and families. They are seeking a Human Resource Clerk to support the HR department by maintaining files, providing clerical support, and assisting with new hire orientation and special events.
Responsibilities:
- Maintains accurate and up-to-date human resource files, records, and documentation
- Maintains the integrity and confidentiality of human resource files and records
- Performs periodic audits of HR files and records to ensure that all required documents are collected and filed appropriately
- Provides clerical support to the HR department
- Assists with new hire orientation
- Assists with planning and execution of special events such as benefits enrollment, organization-wide meetings, and holiday parties
- Assist the reception area when needed
- Track volunteers and make sure required documentation is submitted
- Manage department supplies
- Performs other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma required, some college coursework in Human Resources preferred
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with tact, professionalism, and diplomacy
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
- Proficient with or the ability to quickly learn payroll management, human resource information system (HRIS), and similar computer applications
- Able to work well in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work both in teams and independently with minimal supervision, as well as take on and manage several tasks at once
- Excellent customer service
- Strong telephone skills and ability to maintain composure under pressure
- Ability to adhere to deadlines, react to unpredictable events quickly and efficiently, be resourceful, manage conflict and challenges
