About the role
IIX is seeking an experienced Consultant Report Writer with expertise in impact measurement, monitoring and evaluation (M&E), and sustainable development reporting. This project-based engagement is designed for a professional capable of synthesizing quantitative and qualitative data into rigorous, well-structured reports that clearly communicate impact to investors, donors, and development partners.
The Consultant will work closely with IIX's Strategic Initiatives and IIX Intelligence™ teams to produce reports that meet the highest standards of clarity, methodological integrity, and stakeholder relevance.
This is not a traditional staff role. It requires a highly competent, self-directed writer who can work independently on complex assignments with multiple data sources and deliver polished outputs to tight timelines.
Key Responsibilities
Impact Measurement & M&E Reports
● Draft, edit, and finalize impact measurement reports for IIX's investment portfolios and programs, incorporating quantitative data and qualitative narratives
● Develop results frameworks, logframes, and theory of change documentation as required
● Synthesize M&E findings into accessible reports tailored to diverse audiences, including investors, donors, and government partners
Research & Knowledge Products
● Produce thematic research briefs and sector analyses drawing on IIX's proprietary datasets (IIX Values™, IIX Intelligence™)
● Write case studies, impact stories, and evidence briefs for publication and external stakeholder engagement
● Support the development of client impact reports and organizational publications
Quality Assurance & Editorial Support
● Review and edit technical reports produced by program and research teams for consistency, accuracy, and clarity
● Ensure alignment with established impact frameworks such as IRIS+, SDG indicators, GRI, or gender-disaggregated data standards
● Support the scoping and development of new ideas and initiatives emerging from the CEO's Office
● Help structure early-stage concepts into proposals, frameworks, or workplans ready for internal review or external pitching
● Conduct research and analysis to inform the development of new programs, products, or strategic directions across sectors
Required Qualifications & Experience
• Bachelor's degree or higher in International Development, Economics, Public Policy, Social Sciences, or a related discipline
• Minimum 4 years of experience in impact measurement, M&E, or development reporting within financial institutions, development organizations, or consulting firms
• Demonstrated experience producing high-quality reports involving quantitative data analysis and qualitative synthesis
• Solid understanding of impact measurement frameworks (IRIS+, SDGs, GRI, SRoI, or equivalent)
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated experience in one or more of:
○ Impact or evaluation reports
○ Research or analytical briefs
○ Grant reporting or donor communications
○ Strategy or policy documents
• Proven ability to work as a self-starter with minimal supervision
Preferred / Desired Qualifications
• Knowledge of gender-lens investing, social inclusion metrics, or climate impact measurement
• Experience working with MSMEs, blended finance structures, or impact bonds in emerging market contexts
• Familiarity with data visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI) or statistical analysis software
• Prior experience with DFIs, MDBs, or international development agencies
