MANAGER TRAINING STRATEGY
Full Time - Administrative · Location: Redmond, OR, US / Hillsboro, OR, US
Position Summary
The Manager Training Strategy is a strategic and operational leadership role within the Fixed Wing Training Department at Hillsboro Aero Academy. Reporting directly to the General Manager Airplane, this position is responsible for supporting the development and implementation of HAA’s airplane training strategy while also assisting with the day-to-day management of the Training Department.
This role focuses on advancing training excellence, safety, quality, efficiency, and student success through a collaborative and data-informed approach. The Manager Training Strategy will help establish strategic goals, supporting initiatives, performance metrics, and accountability systems aligned with HAA’s commitment to continuous improvement and a Just Culture environment.
The position requires a highly adaptable leader with strong operational awareness, strategic thinking skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and evolving training environment. Collaboration with internal departments and supporting functions is essential.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Support development and execution of the long-term airplane training strategy for HAA flight students.
• Partner with the General Manager Airplane to establish goals, objectives, performance metrics, and operational priorities.
• Promote training excellence, standardization, operational quality, efficiency, and student success.
• Support implementation of continuous improvement initiatives and accountability frameworks within a Just Culture environment.
• Assist with day-to-day management and operational oversight of the Fixed Wing Training Department.
• Collaborate with Safety, Compliance, Student Services, Operations, Maintenance, and other departments to support operational effectiveness.
• Analyze operational and training performance data to identify trends, risks, and improvement opportunities.
QUALIFICATIONS
• Commercial Pilot Certificate required.
• Certified Flight Instructor (CFI) certificate preferred.
• Experience in aviation training, flight instruction, educational leadership, or training management required.
• Strong understanding of aviation safety, operational excellence, and training environments.
• Demonstrated leadership, communication, organizational, and collaboration skills.
• Strategic mindset with the ability to balance long-term initiatives and daily operational execution.
